A SPEEDY TAKEOVER: WALSALL AND WOLVERHAMPTON BRANCH UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT
The national courier company continues to give back to the community, donating to local children’s hospice to mark the occasion
Today (22nd February 2021) Speedy Freight, the courier division of Eddie Stobart, is announcing the appointment of new franchisee Martin Andrews, who will be taking over the revamped Walsall and Wolverhampton branch. In true Speedy Freight style, the updated branch will cover a wide range of clients from multiple industries, supporting wholesalers, legal firms, manufacturers and construction companies with its diverse fleet of specialist vehicles.
Located at Cannock Park Plaza, the branch will offer new and extremely competitive rates for dedicated same day courier services, covering: Abbots Bromley, Aldridge, Bloxwich, Brownhills, Burntwood, Cannock, Darlaston, Dudley, Hednesford, Lichfield, Pelsall, Rugeley, Walsall, Willenhall. Albrighton, Ashmore Park, Bilston, Blakenhall, Bridgnorth, Codsall, Dudley, Essington, Featherstone, Penn, Tettenhall, Wednesfield, Willenhall, Wolverhampton and Wombourne.
As part of his initial recruitment drive, Martin is looking to recruit up to 50 owner drivers for his preferred driver group. Over the first few months, he will have a strong focus on building a relationship with local contacts, supporting them as they develop and grow through regular work from Speedy Freight.
As well as offering first class courier services, Speedy Freight is also passionate about supporting communities across the UK. Most Speedy Freight branches are partnered with a community project and the new Walsall and Wolverhampton branch is no different – supporting the Acorns Children’s hospice in Walsall.
To mark the appointment of Martin and relaunch of the branch, Speedy Freight will be donating £500 to the Save Acorns Black Country Hospice Appeal, to help fund the future of the Walsall hospice which is currently at risk of closure, enabling Acorns to continue providing specialist palliative care to life limited children in the local Black Country community.
Regarding the donation, Claire Snape, Area Fundraiser at Acorns Children’s Hospice said: “We’re thrilled to have the support of Speedy Freight’s Walsall and Wolverhampton branch for our Appeal. The children and families who use Acorns need us as much as ever during this time of uncertainty as we continue to provide our vital children’s hospice care and lifeline support.
“This generous donation will help us be there for families who rely on our support, including those who are bereaved. On behalf of everyone at Acorns, we could not be more grateful – thank you.”
The Walsall and Wolverhampton branch will be headed up by new Franchisee Martin Andrews, who brings 26 years of experience in automotive roles to his new posting. Originally from Manchester, Martin has worked all over the world, including Italy, Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. Now based in North Staffs with his wife, Lisa, and four children.
On his new role, Mr Andrews said: “I’ve admired Speedy Freight for years, they have such a reputation for excellence in customer service, which is one of the things I pride most in a business.
“Speedy Freight’s community engagement is another massive factor which drew me to the company, as each brand supports charitable causes in their local area.
“My new team and I wanted to show our appreciation for the great work that Acorns Children’s Hospice is providing to youngsters across the West Midlands and we hope the donation to their Appeal will make a difference.
“I’m excited to see what we can accomplish with my new team in 2021!”
