Speedy Freight launches Central London Hub
SPEEDY FREIGHT COURIERS OPEN NEW LONDON BRANCH, FOLLOWING A YEAR OF RAPID GROWTH
Today (19 January 2021) Speedy Freight, the UK’s favourite same day courier delivery service is announcing the launch of a new Central London Hub. The courier company, which is part of Eddie Stobart, has operated in London since it was founded over a decade ago, however this is the first time Speedy Freight will have a dedicated hub in Central London. Launching January 2021, the London Hub will service Central, North, Northwest, South, East and West London and it is expected to generate over 150 new jobs.
The national courier company has worked tirelessly during the pandemic, providing an essential service during lockdown and throughout the year by keeping goods moving across the country and Europe. This resulted in a growth of 39 per cent as Speedy Freight reacted and diversified to new solutions, be it scaling up quickly to fill gaps in the supermarket supply chain, delivering direct to homes for major retailers or to support the covid effort moving PPE, lab equipment and tests. One of Speedy Freight’s surprising jobs in lockdown was delivering large orders of egg boxes to keep eggs stocked on the shelves of national supermarket chains.
The London branch will be headed up by expert logistics manager Jade Woollett, who brings over ten years of experience in the Eddie Stobart family (both in Eddie Stobart Logistics and Stobart Energy) to her new role as Branch Manager. Alongside Jade, the new branch will require around 150 drivers, working to support a wide variety of industries throughout the capital.
Jade Woollett, Branch Manager at the London Hub said: “This new hub is a huge investment for Speedy Freight, we’ve access to over 4000 vehicles, from small vans to Artics or heavy haulage, and we’re looking to forge partnerships with around 150 drivers in the London area, servicing the vast majority of London and the surrounding areas. I’m incredibly excited about the scale of the launch and the opportunities it presents for the surrounding community.”
One of the biggest pressures Speedy Freight has seen impacting the industry in past few weeks is Brexit and the courier expert has invested heavily in making sure its customers know how to navigate their way through the new rules.
Shona Brown, Speedy Freight’s Network Service Manager in charge of the Brexit team, says “it’s essential that the new branch supports customers through this difficult time.”
She said: “What we’ve seen in the last few weeks is that business clients have adapted well to the new rules, however there are still delays at the ports as people including customs agents get used to the new systems. In addition many customers have not previously had to source customs agents in the country they are exporting to, and we are finding that this is an additional area where we can provide support to help them through this process”
Our London Hub team operates 24/7 365 days of the year so give them a call and see how they can support you with your transport and logistical solutions throughout the UK and Europe.
